BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Voters in Broome County are deciding who they want to be the next County Executive. Both candidates for the office were out casting their own votes Tuesday morning.

County Executive Debbie Preston was elected to the position last November after winning a special election for a one year term. She was joined by her husband and daughter at the Conklin Town Hall to vote.

Meanwhile, Democratic Challenger Tarik Abdelazim cast his vote with his family at St. John's and Andrew's Parish in Binghamton before heading out for some last minute campaigning.

Both candidates say they feel confident about the campaigns that they ran.

"Just excitement, I'm just really proud of the way we ran this campaign and however it turns out I think we can hold our heads high that we pushed really aggressively and made a difficult race extremely competitive," said Tarik Abdelazim, Broome County Executive candidate.

"My campaign I felt went well, I made a lot of tough choices these past few months and it never mattered to me that I was up for election because I felt like there needed to be tough choices made for the people of Broome County and I feel good about that," said Debbie Preston, Broome County Executive.

Tonight's winner will hold the position for the next four years.
