ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Town Supervisor of Geddes is denying claims made by a town councilor who wants an ethics committee investigation into some procurement issues.
Councilor Robert Krupa issued that call in a letter to the Geddes town clerk on Friday, raising questions about a contract for tree service with a company called Tree Landers. Krupa says the town supervisor's brother works for the firm and he believed no other company bid on the $8,000 contract.
Town Supervisor Manny Falcone says there were three bids on tree service and Tree Landers had the low bid. He also says he recused himself from a vote on approving the payment because of his brother's ties to the firm. He says Krupa is playing politics.
“Politics is done in November. After the election is over, it's all about the vote at the board level. If something is approved, it's approved. If it fails, it fails. We move on. We're not always happy at a board meeting, but let's do the job of the people and what we're supposed to be doing here,” Falcone said.
Falcone complains that, on the eve of a tough budget season, the focus should not be on politics.
