ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Employees of Lockheed Martin came together to help feed families in need.
A truck full of employee donated items was delivered to the Food Bank of Central New York Tuesday. Throughout the month of May, Lockheed Martin held what they call a MENU, which stands for Mission: Engage, Nourish, Unite.
The food drive brought in more than 1,600 items. Employees also donated $5,000.
"The Food Bank is such a great organization. Especially here in Central New York. They can do so much with every dollar donated and every can donated that people just tend to rally around that cause and it's been very easy to collect donations for them," said Kim Hocking of Lockheed Martin.
"It's such a great partnership that this is the second year that they've done the food and funds drive for us. So not only is it creating awareness, it's bringing meals into our community which are much needed," said Kathleen Stress, Food Bank of CNY COO.
Every dollar generates about 2.3 meals across the community. Lockheed hopes to keep this program going in the future.
