ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Testimony has begun in the trial of the former Waterville teacher accused of molesting one of his students.

David Lemery's alleged victim was one of the first to take the stand in Oneida County Court Tuesday morning. The woman, now 19, says she was a student in Lemery's gym class at Memorial Park Elementary beginning in the late nineties. She told jurors Lemery sexually abused her from ages five to ten, when she was moved to another school because of behavioral problems.

Lemery's defense attorney questioned her about why records show she was argumentative towards teachers yet didn't stand up to the man she claims abused her. She later testified Lemery was kind to her and one of her few sources of positive attention as a child.

Lemery faces four counts of course of sexual conduct against a child.
