OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Oswego Police Department increases its patrols in the downtown area following weeks of complaints about "quality of life" issues. Those issues include loud parties, foot traffic from downtown bars and destruction of property.

Homeowners say patrons leaving late-night establishments are to blame.

In response, police added additional officers to patrol the city on most weekend nights. The patrols started last month and so far have resulted in at least 31 arrests.

"We added on some extra patrols on overtime which were directed towards combating those issues, so they're looking for things such as open containers, loud music from parties, things of that nature," Oswego Police Captain Dave Lizotte said.

The police department encourages people to call in any issues immediately, so they are able to respond in a timely manner. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
