SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A centuries-old legend is brought to life on the big screen. The Oneida Indian Nation's Four Directions Productions premiered its second short film Thursday night at the Syracuse International Film Festival.
Animators spent a year and a half bringing life to the characters in "My Home." It is a traditional Oneida tale about protecting the environment.
The film was completed just a few weeks ago and the idea is to put some of these legends on record.
"Mostly out of preservation, to preserve our culture. To preserve the stories. And what better way than to use modern technology to do that," said Dale Rood, Four Directions Productions Studio Operations Director.
The Syracuse film fest runs through the 16th. You can also find a downloadable program online with all the films, locations and times at www.syrfilm.com.
