Broome County joined Delaware County in declaring a State of Emergency as flood waters continue to be an issue across the region. Our Chris Whalen is in the Town of Conklin with the latest.

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- The rain has stopped here, but Irene certainly left her mark on Broome County.

Schnurbush Park on Conklin Road is almost entirely under water and is creeping toward the road. That threat has caused the state department of transportation to close down several roadways throughout the county. State Route 7 from the city line to the state line is closed. Route 7 is also closed between Bainbridge and Afton.

In Kirkwood, Route 11 near Colesville Road is also shut down.

The good news is that the flooding is no longer expected to be as bad as originally forecasted.

This, of course, is the same area of Broome County that saw major flooding and damage back in 2006, so hearing that is definitely a relief for residents in this area. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
