SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The SU football coaching staff is closer to full strength with offensive line coach Greg Adkins returning to the team on Wednesday.

Adkins missed the first five days of camp recovering from a non-life-threatening medical condition. For now, he is only back in a limited capacity, working in the film room, until he is healthy enough to get back to coaching on the field.

And one of his current prodigies will be happy to see him back.

Sophomore center Macky MacPherson says having Adkins and Doug Marrone as coaches has helped him develop rapidly to the point he is the number one center on the depth chart.

It was a little more than a year ago when he left Christian Brothers Academy. A part-time player last season, Macky would be the only new starter on the offensive line if he can hang onto his position this month. But pressure is something he's learned how to handle, carrying the last name of an SU legend.

Macky says he has got some good advice from his grandpa Dick, but adds they talk about a lot more than just football. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
