CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Democrat Dan Maffei says he's strongly considering a run for his old job in next year's election. The former congressman sent an e-mail to supporters Saturday.
In the e-mail, Maffei thanked them for their constructive criticism and support while he considers putting together a campaign for the 2012 race.
Maffei lost his seat in the 25th district by less than 700 votes, losing out to republican Ann Marie Buerkle back in November.
In his email, he voiced disappointment in Buerkle's representation in Congress so far, saying:
"Our number one overall goal should be to make sure Ann Marie Buerkle is defeated in 2012 and send to the Congress the most effective person to get things done to ensure a bright future for Central New York."
Maffei says he plans to make his decision soon.
