The Syracuse University football team is two weeks away from playing in the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. Officials say tickets are still available for the December 30 bowl game. Our Brad Vivacqua is in our newsroom this morning and has more on this.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- We spoke to officials with WorldTek Event and Travel Management which is facilitating ticket sales through the SU Athletics website. They say more than 50 percent of the SU ticket allotment has been sold but there are still tickets available for fans who want to make the trip to the Bronx.
The Orange will be playing Kansas State from the Big 12 Conference in SU's first bowl game since 2004.
Tickets can be purchased online through the S-U Athletics Bowl Central website for one hundred ten and one hundred thirty five dollars per ticket.
Travel packages are also available on the site and group packages can be purchased at the Dome box office.
Many SU students we spoke to say they're excited about the game and are planning to make the trip.
"The fact that its at Yankee Stadium is huge. Love the stadium, combining that with Syracuse football, it's going to be a great experience," said Eric Handler.
"I know my friends and I we're all working on getting tickets, getting our hotel package together and hoping to stay down in the city to watch the ball drop on New Year's Eve, I think it's great, I can't wait," said Marie Letterii.
The Pinstripe Bowl will mark the first bowl game ever at the new Yankee Stadium. Officials did not confirm with us how many tickets have sold for the game. We know the stadium can hold a capacity crowd of a little more than 54,000 people.
