SKANEATELES, N.Y. -- A ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday officially handed off the management of the Community Center in Skaneateles to the YMCA. The center was original managed by the town but it was too large a responsibility from a financial standpoint.
The center provides the community with four pools, an ice skating rink, recreational and wellness rooms, and various activities.
The YMCA is bringing more than just years of experience to the facility.
"We have some plans in the works, we haven't finalized anything yet. But with the assistance of the YMCA we're going to look into what other activities or other functions the community center might provide," Charlie Wallace, Skaneateles Recreational Charitable Trust president.
The management change took more than a year of planning.
