ELBRIDGE, N.Y. – A fiery crash in Elbridge kills two people. It happened just before 2 p.m. near the intersection of Route 5 and Sandbank Road.
The Onondaga County Sheriff says a car driven by Ronald Mabb, 68, and had a passenger, Marlene Demay, 76, of Elbridge, was rear-ended by Kevin Lamay II, 26, of Rome who was driving a Casa Imports tractor-trailer, and in turn hit a pickup truck.
The car burst into flames, killing both Mabb and his passenger both in their mid-60s.
The driver of the pickup truck, Michael Lockwood, 31, was taken to Auburn Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Lamay was taken to the State Police barracks for questioning.
Authorities are also investigating two other crashes that happened in the same area around the same time.
