SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- One of three republicans vying for their party's nomination to run against democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in November is accusing his opponents of talking out of both sides of their mouths.

During a campaign stop in Syracuse, Bruce Blakeman, an attorney and former Nassau County legislator, says he remains the only true conservative republican in the race.

"Joe DioGuardi, when he had his chance in Congress, he voted with the democrats 40 percent of the time. He voted against Reagan's policies 50 percent of the time. And the American Conservative Union gave him a 'D.' He's not a conservative. He's not even a republican. So he's not the right guy to bring the message of change that we need. And David Malpass was the chief economist to Bear Stearns when they went broke," Blakeman said.

Blakeman, Malpass and DioGuardi will face a primary on September 14th. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
