SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Honeywell is sending three Central New York teachers to Space Camp in Alabama. It's part of their Honeywell educators at Space Camp Program.

The three local winners are part of a group of more than 200 people worldwide. One of them, Patricia Burns, a fourth grade teacher at Dr. King School in Syracuse, got the award Friday morning.

Activities include classroom, lab and field training exercises linked to science and math. Each teacher will also undergo real-life astronaut training including a high-performance jet simulations. And then it's up to teachers like Mrs. Burns to bring what they've learned back to their students.

"I get to come back and share the experience and tell them about the people I meet and the things I get to do and show them the different experiments and show them the pictures and I also get to share with my colleagues. I'm going to develop a workshop to show them what they did and how they can be a part of it," Burns said.

Mrs. Burns will be at Space Camp from June 11th to the 17th. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
