BRIDGEPORT, N.Y. -- There was another fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a car. A woman was hit and killed in front of her home in Bridgeport.
State Police in North Syracuse were called to the scene on Route 298 around 7:30 p.m. Friday. A vehicle traveling southbound hit Joanne Schoenefelder on the side of the road near her mailbox, where she was killed. It is unknown at this time what Schoenefelder was doing at the time of the accident.
"It appears at this point not to be influenced by any environmental factors or any operator error. But we have not determined the cause of the accident. That is under investigation," said New York State Police Captain Jeffrey D. Raub.
Police are reconstructing the scene of the accident as they continue their investigation.
