Some old friends and new gems can be found at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.
Disney is putting the final touch on the new Fantasyland with the media debut of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train inspired by the classic film, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."
"It's really smooth. The car moves with you so It doesn't throw you back and forth in the car and it's really, really fun," says Walt Disney Imagineer Dave Minichiello.
The gentle family-friendly coaster should be open to the public before summer but no official date has been set. The launch of the Mine Train completes the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history.
One of the newest developments at Fantasyland happens right here when it literally moves its magic to Main Street.
A highlight of the Festival of Fantasy parade is a massive float of a fire breathing dragon named Maleficent that bends and flexes along the route.
Also heating up over at Disney’s Contemporary resort, is the newly re-imagined California Grill transforming the restaurant that sits high above Magic Kingdom into a gastronomic performance.
"So you have a great opportunity while you’re dining to be entertained with all the culinary action that’s going on really right in front of you," says California Grill Chef Brian Piasecki.
On the other side of the lagoon, the hospitality experience has been enhanced by a new addition at Disney’s top resort, the Victorian style Grand Floridian. They’ve added ultra luxurious villas to their Vacation Club inventory that sleep up to 12 in one to three bedrooms. Sometimes they are available in the hotel stock.
To kick off Memorial Day, both Magic Kingdom and the California parks will be staying open for an all-night extravaganza where you can "Rock Your Disney side."
